Lambton Rowing Club is a newly established, volunteer run rowing club located in the stunning grounds of the Lambton Estate on the River Wear.
Established in 2022 LRC is a friendly, welcoming club with a thriving membership and experienced coaching team.
The club’s ethos is to encourage participation in rowing for people of all ages and abilities and to do so in an enjoyable, friendly and supportive environment.
All too often rowing is viewed as being an expensive or elitist sport, but we want to encourage people from the local community, from all walks of life, to get into a boat and experience the same love and passion for the sport that we have.
Recreational rowers are welcomed and, for those athletes who aspire to excel in the sport, LRC has the necessary expertise within the coaching team to allow them to do so.
Collaboration and co-operation with other rowing clubs and organisations is also a key priority to our club, to allow our members to get the best opportunities that they can and to promote the sport of rowing and the countless benefits it brings to those who participate.

A message from Head Coach Steven Thompson

“This is a really exciting time for Lambton RC but also for the Chester-le-Street community.

Our aim is to provide a fun, friendly and learning environment for all our members and we welcome youngsters and adults of all abilities.

All the coaches, members and parents have worked extremely hard to get the new club established and I’d particularly like to thank our sponsors and all the other rowing clubs that have supported us and for believing in our vision for this club.

Most of all I would like to thank Lord Lambton and his estate team for making it possible for us to row in one of the most beautiful locations in the North East."

We are very pleased to confirm that we are now a British Rowing affiliated club!

All the hard work of the committee has paid off and our members are now racing. We would especially like to thank the Northern Rowing Council for all their help and support in the affiliation process.
