WINDERMERE Training Camp 2024

Lambton RCs first Windermere residential rowing training camp took place between the 10th -14th August 2024 at Ambleside YHA .

37 junior athletes and 17 adult  rowers took part in a packed timetable of training, team building, technical feedback, and fun activities.

We were joined by rowers and friends, from Berwick ARC and Talkin Tarn ARC who were very welcome.

Every day started with  a 5am sunrise row  along the entire length of the lake and back, 32 k in total, for the older juniors and adult rowers. After a cooked breakfast the daytime sessions then commenced, morning and afternoon sessions for the juniors and another evening session for the adult rowers. 

Video recordings were made daily of each athlete and then viewed together on a big screen in the evening at the technical feedback sessions, where detailed analysis and coaching advice was given to each rower which could then be implemented and built upon the next day.

It was a really great time for the Club to strengthen existing friendships and forge new ones and for the younger rowers to learn from and interact with the older ones. Having rowers from other clubs  attend made what was already an amazing camp even better .

The weather on the whole was very kind to us, with plenty of sunshine, some calm, glassy water conditions and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. On the odd day when conditions weren't as  favourable it didn't deter anyone and the smiles were still out in force on everyone's faces. A good deal of hard work and effort went into  putting on such a successful camp and the Club extends its grateful thanks to everyone who contributed and especially to Leanne Wordsworth for her outstanding organising skills and endless patience.
